M.O.O.C. anyone?

I received an email the other night from Manuel.  He’d put away his work gloves for the day and was busy expanding his knowledge base.  The link (click here) was about a relatively new form of education called a MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) – think distance ed but on steroids!  I watched the video and then visited Coursera where I’ve now signed up for several courses including 21st Century American Foreign Policy (Duke University), Understanding Media by Understanding Google (Northwestern University) and an Introduction to Calculus (Ohio State University).  These courses are provided free of charge and might be taken by 50,000 or 100,000 people at one time!  It’s a great concept and perfect for those of us who want to learn things but don’t have the time to go back to school.  Enjoy!

  2. Si Senor Ben…there are also M.O.O.C.O.W.S. They offer courses in animal husbandry, particularly in dealing with bovines.
Congratulations on signing up for some of the courses.
