Josée and I took the dogs for a snowshoe up the mountain today – great views, fresh air and no bears. Mt. Washington has a base of 500cm right now which reportedly makes it the ski resort with the most snow in the world! We only went half way up but found more than enough snow. What a treat to have such a place just half an hour away from us!
Anyone who lives in the Comox Valley knows we live paradise! Couple great restaurants and social events, sporting opportunities and nature with safe streets and a high standard of living and you have a perfect place. Well, that’s my opinion anyway. Last night, we took a trip up Mt. Washington with Josée’s Mum & Aunt. We had a leisurely drive to up the mountain followed by a quiet ride on the chairlift to the top of the hill. We were very fortunate in that the evening was clear and calm; we could see for miles across the Strait of Georgia, the Comox Valley spread out beneath us, Denman & Hornby Islands off to the right and Campbell River to the left. We did see across the strait with the Coast Mountains snow-capped and clear in front of us. I think Josée’s Mum and Aunt enjoyed the trip, especially the last bit of the chairlift ride where it’s very steep. Below are a few photos of the trip. We were lucky to have such a magnificent view and it really reminded me that we do have a special place and should not take it for granted.
Enjoy your local scenery and take a trip in your backyard!
