Canuck 4 – Kings 2
The Canucks advanced to the second round of the playoffs tonight, defeating the Kings in a tight match. Josée and I watched the game in our box seats at Pridy Rd. I was thinking back to the past season; 82 games, 42 (41, thanks DB) at home, 42 (41, again…) on the road, most of them on TSN, Sportsnet Pacific and CBC, about a dozen on pay-per-view. Of the 70 or so on regular TV, I estimate that we watched at least 60 of them at Pridy with Mum and Dad, and usually a couple animals as well! It’s become a tradition, with Dad sending out a game day email highlighting the teams, game notes and the supper menu! As most games are on weeknights during the dead of winter, it’s a welcome treat to finish work, pick up the dogs (and now pig!) and head over for supper and the game! We’ve had this tradition now for many years but we did have a new twist which commenced last season; Mum became a hockey fan! Now she’s as rabid as the rest of us.
Anyway, it’s been a great season and I’m glad to see the team heading to the second round. A couple days to rest and fine tune then here we go again. For those of you new to Canucks Nation, jump on the bandwagon – better late than never – and enjoy the ride! It’s going to be a fun playoff run!
GO ‘NUCKS!
