This is a video made at my nephew’s birthday party.  There is a quite a bit of dodgeball footage so fast-forward it if you like.  Enjoy!

Boccé anyone??

Last summer, we had our first annual boccé tournament.  With over twenty teams and about $750 in prizes, it was a great success.  We’ve had considerably more interest this summer and are anticipating at least 30 teams.  Space will be limited so don’t forget to sign up early; we’re hoping to have a discount for early-birds.  The 2010 edition of the tourney is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, August 7th, a week following the B.C. day long weekend.  I’ll be putting together a more formal invitation, complete with details but take this as your first ‘heads up’; summer schedules fill up quickly so be sure to book this day off in your calendar.

This year, we’re going to add a few features to the tourney.  The main thing is that we’ll be opening our back field for those of you who want to camp overnight.  We’ll have prizes and food as well and we may add a horseshoe competition into the mix.  Pass the word along:  Boccé – August 7th!!

All aboard…

Canuck 4 – Kings 2

The Canucks advanced to the second round of the playoffs tonight, defeating the Kings in a tight match.  Josée and I watched the game in our box seats at Pridy Rd.  I was thinking back to the past season; 82 games, 42 (41, thanks DB) at home, 42 (41, again…) on the road, most of them on TSN, Sportsnet Pacific and CBC, about a dozen on pay-per-view.  Of the 70 or so on regular TV, I estimate that we watched at least 60 of them at Pridy with Mum and Dad, and usually a couple animals as well!  It’s become a tradition, with Dad sending out a game day email highlighting the teams, game notes and the supper menu!  As most games are on weeknights during the dead of winter, it’s a welcome treat to finish work, pick up the dogs (and now pig!) and head over for supper and the game!  We’ve had this tradition now for many years but we did have a new twist which commenced last season; Mum became a hockey fan!  Now she’s as rabid as the rest of us.

Anyway, it’s been a great season and I’m glad to see the team heading to the second round.  A couple days to rest and fine tune then here we go again.  For those of you new to Canucks Nation, jump on the bandwagon – better late than never – and enjoy the ride!  It’s going to be a fun playoff run!
